Old Farmer's Advice

I came across some OLD FARMER'S ADVICE:

*Your fences need to be horse-high, pig tight and bull-strong.
*Keep skunks and bankers at a distance.
*Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.
*Meanness don't jes' happen overnight...
*Forgive your enemies; it messes with their heads.
*Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
*The best sermons are lived, not preached.
*Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.
*Don't judge folks by their relatives.
*Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
*Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.
*The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'.
*Always drink upstream from the herd.
*If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.
*Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

Ten Needs A Forever Home

Ten, a pug who is fighting for his life, needs a forever home. Please donate to his care or consider being his forever home. Right now the little guy is being fostered by Alabama Pug Rescue. When they came upon Ten, he was starved and covered with demodectic mange. I was amazed that he was still alive. Looking at his picture, it breaks my heart to see the condition that he is in. I know that he will heal with the love and medical care that Alabama Pug Rescue will give him. Please help if you can.

Here is the Alabama Pug Rescue Website.

Trixie At Seventeen

Trixie is loved and owned by a friend of mine. At 17, she is the oldest living dog I have ever known. She gets around quiet well for her age.

Rescue

I received this in an email today - thought it was a nice perspective.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels.
I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.
I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.
As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today.

Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them. As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.
She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me.

I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raise my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.
I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.

I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one. I rescued a human today.

Happy New Year

Since we're not football fans, we went out to dinner and saw a movie on New Year's Day.

It's Not That Complicated was hilarious. I laughed the entire time. In fact I was laughing so hard that tears were rolling down my face. It was well written and the actors were awesome. In other movies Steve Martin has always had a funny role. But in this movie his comedic talent did not shine since his character was not written that way.

I highly recommend the movie It's Not That Complicated.<
